Spanish Moss member of the Pineapple family

Spanish Moss, the stringy growth that hangs from trees in the US coastal Southeast, is actually not really a moss but a member of the plant family Bromeliaceae, also known as the pineapple family. Check the links for interesting legends of the origin of this plant.
