I know I am coming late to this argument. In fact, sadly Scott Lilienfeld passed away in 2020. While I agree with many things Scott Lilienfeld has written, I feel he was wrong about this one. Lilienfeld is arguing that mastery of a skill comes quickly with a steep learning curve. That is incorrect. It's not a mastery curve, it's a learning curve. To achieve mastery requires a great deal of learning, so the learning vs. time and effort vs time curves are steep, while the mastery vs time curve is shallow.

This is not a new idea, there has always been a 13 month calendar because there is 13 moon phases, one month per phase. Every month originally has 28 days. If you take all of the blank spaces on a calendar it will always add up to 28. Look way back in history of the 13 month calendar and you can see for yourself. Just do a little bit of research and you will find what your looking for. I hope that I have shed some light on this topic for you. Check out the old roman calendars and some of the others you will find too.

Sam, yes, they do seem to have some "impossible" ones. They try to designate some levels as "hard" but I find some of the "normal" levels to be just as challenging. Now that they give you quite a few "free" boosters, I find myself using them often to power through a tough level if I've been at it for more than a couple of days. To date, I'm now on level 476 on Jelly (usually the one I play first) and 771 on Soda. To date, I still haven't bought any boosters.

Thanks very much for choosing Desperate Engagement. I would like to let you know, though, that I've had a great deal of positive response from folks who are not die-hard Civil War or history fans about the Book TV show. It seems to be a story that anyone can get something out of, although it would help to have a bit of an interest in American history.
